Shipcote & Friends have been around for quite some time playing their original quirky country swing music. However this one-off show pairs them with the acclaimed Aurora String quartet to perform their tunes in a very different way. Bridie Jackson will be the special guest & will also play a new set of songs with her duo Brick. Shipcote & Friends will also do a short set at the beginning of the night. So it should be a wonderful night for everybody to enjoy.

Aurora Strings are the north east’s busiest string quartet. They have performed and recorded with artists such as The Cinematic Orchestra, Field Music, The Unthanks, Smoove and Turrell, Richard Dawson, Beccy Owen, Kathryn Williams and Gary Hilton (Badly Drawn Boy) and worked on projects such as Kerrin Tatman’s Requiem, Ditte Elly’s The North Sea Project at The Glasshouse IMC and Paul Smith (Maximo Park) and Peter Brewis’ (Field Music) project, Frozen By Sight. They regularly perform in stunning venues across the north east, including Durham Cathedral for Fever’s Candlelight Concerts and have appeared on ITV’s Vera as well as on the soundtrack to CSI Miami.

Bridie Jackson (Brick) As a songwriter, Bridie’s work received national recognition and critical acclaim after winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Contest in 2013 with her band, Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, and she now regularly records and performs as the duo Brick with Nick Pierce. Bridie is a much-admired composer and singer. Nick is a academy trained viola player. The duo make indie folk, with lots of twists and turns mainly on guitar, keys & of course voice.
