Clouds were a welcome sign on a St Patrick’s day of note in Austin Texas. The difficulty in getting into some venues because of drinking celebrator’s wearing green was a bit of a problem but I struggled on with a smile. The catchy psyched country of Liz Cooper & Stampede got the day of live music rolling, then John Doe & His Folk trio in Lucy Fried Chicken joint were the days highlight.I also got to see The Peterson Bros funky blues, Josh Hedley’s retro 60’s country & Brennen & Noel doing a little Mexican music at the famous Threadgill’s. The evening was a bit hit & miss to be honest but my random trip up to The Continental Club was a good choice as Churchwood,Charlie Faye & The Fayettes & Ben Dickey were three splendid acts. As Dale Watson entertained you all tonight at The Cluny in the snow, my Austin taxi driver said she’s only wore a sweater once this year.
