Once again Im reporting from a sunny & warm , if a bit corporate SXSW in Austin. After 5 years away ,I was amazed that you need a guest pass to even make the free official day parties ! No worries though as I have my own little unofficial schedule & that made for a quite a nice walkabout, if a bit tiring. Patrica Vonne whom was the Castanet lady in Alejandro Escovedo’s classic song, played The Continental Club at 1.15 in afternoon & that was my first taste of live music. I dont know if it was jet lag but it seemed like a late evening as the sun shone outside. Following on amongst lots of music delights i chatted to the local breweries Shiner & got into a great country showcase headlined by Tyler Childers & band ,with The Black Lillies & also Jason Eady in a songwriters circle. I saw a special one off solo gig with James McMurtry in a gallery & local siren Barbara Nesbitt in a sport bar come new venue just for SXSW. I also had time to get the local bus home to bed.
