An all too rare appearance from classy bluesman/songster Brendan Croker – probably best known as a member of Mark Knofler’s Notting Hillbillies or playing as a duo with his best buddy Steve Phillips. Also in the 1980/90s he led his own unique troupe Brendan Croker & The 5 O Clock Shadows. Croker’s equally at home with Van Morrison-style blues or American country music of any era. In fact, his deep knowledge of and affection for American roots music, at one point gave rise to being hailed as “The British Ry Cooder.”
Shipcote & Friends music’s simply played and with many songs dashed in humour, and sang in a warm relaxed fashion, what more could one wish for in a opening act.
