American songstress Chastity Brown returns to Newcastle on her short UK tour to play a special one off solo concert in the selected confines of the upstairs room in Earl Of Pitt Street.
Based in Minnesota, but with roots in Tennessee, Chastity grew up surrounded by country and soul music. In the full gospel church of her childhood, she found her singing voice and a passion for music. Her first show was in Knoxville, TN, and then it was on to Minneapolis. Since then, she’s been featured on NPR’s “Favorite Sessions,” CMT, American Songwriter, the London Times, Paste Magazine and others. Chastity has toured the U.S. and abroad, appearing on the U.K.’s Later…with Jools Holland. Chastity also tour’s alongside Ani Difranco (as part of her band)
“Chastity is a remarkable blend of folk, country, and soul, all rooted in Brown’s lifelong, bone-deep appreciation of Americana.’ No Depression
Support will be Portland Oregon singer songwriter John Craigie. Musically comparable to John Prine, he is one of the best storytellers of our time. He’ll make you laugh and make you cry, all in the same song.
